The Rose : The Different Colors of the Rose and What The Rose Colors Mean

Roses are the most popular flowers around the world. As a universal language of love, it is the most common gift given to someone special especially on Valentine's day and other special occasions.

The rose is a flower shrub or vine which is probably the most famous of all flowers in the world. People across all ages choose to gift roses for special occasions to show their affection. We also see a lot of homes use a bunch of roses, whether real or artificial, as an ornament to brighten a room. Having 100 different species  of diversified colors, the rose offers everyone a wide variety of choices depending on whether it would be used as a gift or as a room ornament. Traditionally, the rose has always been considered as the universal language of love all over the world. But amidst all those wonderful colors of the rose, have you ever wondered what each of these colors mean?

Over the years, because of its popularity, people have been inspired to develop a “Language of Rose” depending on the color being gifted.

The Red Rose: This is the most popular color of the rose. Giving red roses is the timeless manifestation of love to someone special. Whether you give 3 or 12 red roses, this usually conveys the message “ I love you” and a deep emotional commitment to someone.

The Pink Rose:  This color symbolizes sophistication, charm and elegance, and is a subtle counterpart of the red rose. To give a pink bouquet of roses is to express admiration, appreciation, and joy to someone.

The Yellow Rose: Like the color of the sun, yellow roses suggest the feeling of warmth, exuberance, and friendship. Also, as the vibrance of the sun which is the source of life, a bouquet of yellow roses is also given to a person who is sick or not feeling well to wish the person to “ GET WELL.”

The White Rose: White denotes innocence and purity which are generally associated with new beginnings. Hence, traditionally, white roses are used for bridal bouquets of first time brides. The purity of white also conveys spirituality and divinity, which makes white roses popularly given to offer sympathy or to give love and respect to someone.

The Orange Rose: Compared to the yellow rose which reminds us of the warmth of the sun, the orange rose exudes a fiery blaze. Hence, the orange rose signifies passion and energy for someone being gifted with its bouquet.

Mixed Roses: To send a variety of colors in a bouquet of roses is an expression of random and mixed emotions to show someone that you care.

So the next time you think of giving some some roses, think of the message you wish to express to that person and you won’t be wrong.

Do you know that aside from being the language of love, the rose petals have also evolved as a fantastic vegetarian salad which originated from Thailand?

A friend of mine who is an avid gardener as well as a vegetarian invited me to have a taste of her own version of the Rose Salad Recipe. To my surprise, it was very delicious, hence, I am sharing it with you.
